THE RECENT CENSUS. WELLINGTON, Juno 10. Tim preliminary results of the lerent census have now been practically completed, and it is anticipated that within a. fortnight the Government Statistician will be in a position to place the final figures before the Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. H. F. Bollard). Efficiency and speed seem to have walked band in hand through the census office since the population count was embarked upon. All along the work has proceeded splendidly. The modern plant, which has been insVllod nt the office preparatory to the taking of the tally, lias proved of great labour-saving value, and that not a hitch has occurred lias been exemplified bv the promptitude with which the returns are handled.
