ANTI TOXIN TREATMENT. MELBOURNE, June 30. In the House o? Representatives, speaking on the Small Page tuberculosis treatment, Mr JTowse said that the Commonwealth laboratories experiments showed that the disintegration and fragment! itioln of tubercle bacilli did not occur after treatment with the splenic, extract, that chore was no evidence of any lytic principle in the splenic extract mid that when guinea pigs are artificially infected with a lump tubercle .the bacilli were divided into two groups. One group treated the other group kept as controls, wherein the disease was allowed to develop normally. Almost all the treated animals iare dead, but control animals are still alive. Some rabbits infected with bovine tubercle bacilli wevo similarly divided into two gioups. Some were treated by dilferent metl._ ods approved by Small Page, and others kept as controls were treated and the animals died more rapidly than the controls. -The acting director of the laboratory in a summary said the results indicated neither serum nor extract had been of the slightest aviiil in saving lives of guinea pig--infected with the lump turborcle bacilli. On the other hand they ’iidicated that death had been hastened by the use of the best agents.
