The escapee from the Mental Hospital was recaptured lost evening about 5 o’clock at Arnhura. The man did not appear to be suffering from the effects of exposure.
The death occurred yesterday after a long illness of .Mrs Richard Dumpliy, of Christchurch, and a native of of Hokitika. She was the wile of the late Richard Dumpliy, formerly of the Albion Hotel, Greymouth. and leaves one daughter, two sons and several sisters. The interment takes place at Reefton on Friday.

The wedding of a popular couple took plnoo yesterday morning at St. Patrick’s fliurcli, Greymouth, when Miss Violet Lilian Larcoinbe, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Larcoinbe, of Shakespeare St., was united in the bonds of matrimony to Mr John Devescovi. of Kunanga. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Father M.cMonagle. The bride was attired in an ensemble suit of henna rep. and a smart felt hat to match, and was attended by her sisters. Misses Minnie and Rose Larcoinbe. who wore frocks of fawn rep and hats to match. Mr W. Larcomhe. junior, was best man. A reception was held in Herb. Moore’s Tea Rooms, and later the newly-married couple left for Palmerston North and Hamilton, on their honeymoon.

At last night’s meeting of tbe Grey Harbour Board, (Mr J. Steer was reelected chairman for the ensuing year. This is the tenth year in succession that Mr Steer has held this -office. Messrs D. Tenncnt and J. McLean, in moving and seconding the nomination of Nlr Steer, respectively, paid high tribute to the work done by him as Chairman of the Board.
During a recent trip, the lion. 0. -J. Hawken, while motoring over a rough road, was bumped to the top of his car, and he received rather an ugly calji wound, which had to he drawn toother with stitches. The Union S.S. Company’s s.s. Kartigi, one of the latest additions of up-to-date cargo steamers added to their licet, left Greyniouth on this morning’s tide for Wellington with a record cargo of coal and timber, totalling 3,(Kit) tons, leaving that port in one bottom,. She was drawing JSft. lore and aft and had no difficulty in negotiating the bar. plenty of water being available and the sea on its best behaviour.

Mr G. Wilson-, who has been locomotive eningeer for the South Island since tha re-organisation of the Railway Department last year, has been promoted to a position on the headquarters stall' of the Department. He has been succeeded in Christchurch by Mr P. R. Angus, who was formerly attached to the chief mechanical engineer’s office as locomotive engineer, and recently returned from a tour of railways abroad. (Mr Angus has already taken lip his new duties. Prior to the reorganisation of the Department he was district locomotive engineer at Greyniouth.
