FOOTBALL.

At the weekly meeting of the Most Coast Rugby Union held last evening at Greymouth, a letter was received from the Nelson' Union re correspondence received from the Hawke's Bay, M'airon, Wellington, Poverty Bay and Manawatu-1 lorowhemia Unions, in intended tour of the Seddon Shield district rep. team of the North island, and it was resolved to advise that this Union agreed that a conference of Seddon Shield Unions should he held, but at the same time they arc not prepared at the present time to undertake any financial responsibility, and could not send a delegate in view of their intended tour of Canterbury and South Canterbury, negotiations for which are still under way, and in view also of the possibility of clashing of dates. A letter was received from the Merivalo Chib advising their acceptance of the invitation to send a junior team to the Coast this season, and also one from, the Ashburton Sub-Union accepting a match from, the AYest Coast touring team, and suggesting that Saturday would lie the best day for such match.

It was resolved to advise South Canterbury Union that negotiations had now been completed with Canterbury Union and Ashburton Sub-Union for matches, and to ask them to advise which day they would like for a match, a mid-week day or a Saturday. Referees’ reports were read and received for last Saturday and were found satisfactory. It was resolved that all clubs Ire asked to pay their seven-aside subscriptions forthwith, and that the two SubUnions he also asked to send in their affiliation fees. The following fixture was set down for next Saturday:— Seniors. —United v. Hokitika., at T 'kitika, at 3 p.m.
