FOOTBALL.
SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNEY. Gass Square was the scene of some excellent football yesterday during the soven-a-sido tournament in the three grades. The ground was in capital older and the day was perfect, a. bright sunny day without any wind. The pPay wits kept going promptly for i re hours, without much intermission. The finals of the Third Grade section between Rimu and School A was a very fino contest, and it took an extra fifteen minutes to find a decision, Rimu ultimately winning a game that raised the spectators to enthusiasm and though School lost they played a fine game. In the filial of the Junior contest, darkness was rapidly approaching and the finish was played in semi-darkness, spoiling what otherwise would have boon a very fine finish. Ivanieri managed to win by a try after time bad run out and an extra spell was played. Mr McGregor (President) then presented the trophies to the winners:—To the School A -(winner of the Shrimps section), a football; to Rimu (the winners of the Third Grade,) a football; and to the Ivanieri team (winners of the Junior section) a handsome mf.e howl to hold for the yeai. The referees for the day were:— Messrs A. Cutbush, J. Coulson, A. Sumner, C. Gnylor, and E. IV. Heenan. Tlia details were as follows: SHRIMPS. Second round:—School A 20, beat Ruatapu 0; Rimu A 12. beat Kiwi AO. Semi-final:—School A 19, beat Rimu B 0. Final: —(Rimu A 3, bdat School A 0. JUNIORS. First found:—Ross 11, heat Kiwi A 0; Excelsior B 3, beat Harihnri 0; Tvanieri A 22, heat Railway 0; Kiwi B 5, beat Ivanieri B 3. Second round:—Kiwi B 3, beat Ross 0; Ivanieri A 19. boat Excelsior C 0; Excelsior B G, beat Ivanieri B 5. Final :—Tvanieri A 6, beat Excelsior B 3. GREY TOURNEY. At Grey mouth yesterday the Senior seven-a-side was won by United A and Excelsiors (Hokitika) won the Junior section. SATURDAY’S GAMES. The "Westland Sub-Union competitions will he continued to-morrow afternoon. The games for the day are: JUNIORS. Excelsiors v. Ross at Hokitika at 3 p.in.. Mr A. Cutbush. Ivanieri v. Kokatahi at- Ivokatahi, Mr .T. Coulson. THIRD-GRADE. School v. Rimu at Rimu .at 3 p.m. Mr C. Gaylor.
