BOXING.

[nr TELEGRAPH —TER PRESS ASSOCIATION. BLENHEIM, Alay 27. The art of “beating tlio door-keep er” lias evidently attained a quite scientific efficiency in Blenheim, according to the secretary’s annual report to be submitted to tlie general meeting of the Alarlborough Boxing Association shortly. t

“At the last tourney,” says tlie secretary, “a watch was kept at tlie stage door, and detection followed of no fewer than twelve who had successfully evaded payment. Some of these came in on members’ tickets, one bad an old complimentary tiiket which lie bad altered, one member came in to see a friend ‘just for a minute’, and in the rush got a pass out, then he catne buck, produced bis wass and a friend behind him produced a member’s ticket. He was not a. member and explanations quickly followed. Another method was for four or five men to push in together and for three to pay in the rush and one not to and all to swear that he had. These were a. few of the dodges. “A while ago the takings at the doors did not seem to he all they should bo. Next time we took a tally of all the chairs, and when tlie house was full noted the vacancies. A big deficiency was apparent. We then discovered that upstairs there is a door to the fire escape and some one would pay for bis seat, go up and unlock the door and bis friends came through the lire escape as'soon as a little excitement was on to distract attention. This must have cost the Association quite a lot of money before being discovered. These are the sort of things which account for a number of associations being in difficulties. It was rather a coincidence that several caught dodging payment were ones who bad previously lost no opportunity to criticise file association.”
