Pearson 6 and 5; Bobby Jones beat Aylmer 5 and 4; Horocks beat Nalleain 3 and 1; Pottle beat the boy champion, Holderness, 2 up; Boumphrey beat Jenkins (exehampion) 2 and 1; John Beck beat Chick 'Kraus 3 and 1; Grant beat Colonel Hambre 6 and 4; De Zoote beat Storey 4 and 3; American Standish beat Shaw 1 up.
In the third round, Watts Gunn boat John Wilson 4 and 3; W. A. Murray beat W. B. Torrance 4 and 3; Michael Scott beat Kyle 2 up; American Brewer beat Turner (New Zealand) 2 and 1; Sinclair beat Major IT. Kennedy 3 and 2; Board beat Peattie 1 up; Dunn beat Grant 1 up; Bobby Jones beat Dickson 4 and 3; Sweetzer beat Ouimet 1 up; Guildford beat Angus Hambre 2 up; Harris beat Forrester 4 and 2. The winners include W. L. Hartley, Vngilnno, Noel Layton, Gillies, Boumphrey (America) and Peacock. The defeated include W. L. Hope. Though Sinclair defeated Major Kennedy 3 and 2, winning his way to the fourth round lie played shockingly for the first nine holes, hooking with every club. Only excellent putting saved him. Having taken 43 out Sinclair found his top form and from a tight corner he won the 10th., 11th., 12th., 14th. and loth, holes and only a missed putt prevented him winning the I,3th. Brewer, who defeated Turner (New Zealand) has been so far an unknown player.
