THE POLISH REVOLUTION

[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association. (Received tins day at 12.25 p.in.) WARSAW, May 20. How Roland escaped a dietatorshi| is explained by .Marshal Pilsudski ii ait interview. He said for six month: lie was vainly striving for the execution of moral and political reforms ii Poland, especially in the army. What particularly annoyed me was the impunity enjoyed by the new rich. This decided me to act, but only against the Government, not against the President. Pilsudski regretted the President’s refusal to treat with him and tho failure of his attempts at mediation before his final victory. He did not desiro a dictatorship which would throw tbo whole burden of affairs on one man. whereas tho arduous daily toil of many was necessary to reform the State Pilsudski said he was proud of accomplishing something unique in the carrying out of a coup-d-etat, which lie immediately legalised into a sort of icvolutionary. Pilsudski evaded a question whether he would accept the Presidency. Ho said he was awaiting the nomination or a number of candidates, whom he would afterwards summon to his house and demand a joint undertaking that they did not have connection with political parties, bams, business groups or similar interests.
