Important developments in connection with the murder of Detectives Walsh and Pitman occurred when the police found tlie belongings of the dead man hidden in a clump of scrub opparently just where the owners left them. On Walsh’s cycle was a parcel of food and on Pitman’s a water bag half full of water. About five hundred yards away 7 was found portion of a gold treatment plant with indications that a considerable quantity of gold had been treated.
