NEW MINISTERS APPOINTED. [nV TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, May 23. Before leaving for the North tonight. the Prime Minister, Hon .1. G. Coates, made the following statement regarding the appointments to Cabinet. and changes consequently upon Cabinet, reconstruction in connection with Ministerial portfolios and administration of various Government departments. The portfolio of Education has been offered to. am! accepted by Air K. A. A\ right, Af.P. of Wellington Suburbs. He will he sworn in immediately in order that he may take up his Alinislerial duties ns early as possible. In addition to flic portfolio ,of Education it is understood that Mr "Wright will take over the Friendly Societies and the National Provident Fund. In accordance with the intimation J made some time ago the Hon Mr Downie Stewart will become Minister of Finance and Arinj.sler of Stamp Dufies, hut in view of the important and onerous duties attaching to the finance portfolio, the Hon Afr Stewart felt himself compelled’’ to relinquish the Attorney-Goincr.nl-ship. Tie will he succeeded by Hon F. J. Bolleston, who is also Minister of Justice and Minister of Defence. The Hon Afr Noswortliv will become PostmasteivGeneral and Afinister of Telegraph, in succession to the Bon Sir Francis Bell. Tn order to. relieve the Hon Afr Stewart, it has been decided that the lion AH McLeod will assume the pori.olio of Industries and

Commerce in addition to (faking charge of.A r aluatioii and Electoral Dcpntnoento. In connection with the approaching Parliamentary .Session, the Hon Sir Heaton Rhodes will ho asked to act as Loader of I he Legislative Council during tho absence of Sir Francis Bell. T wish also to take this opportunity of intimating that it is my intention to relinquish the portfolio of Public Works in order to lessen the load which I have been carrying, and,, also to give me more time to devote to the strenuous duties of Parliament. T hope to make an announcement as to the new Minister of Public Works in due course.
