Light rain fell all the morning, but the attendance was well up to the average and going good, though a trifle holding. Results:—Purua Hack Flat.—Ballmoy 1, Royal Elm 2, Whenuatu 3. Scr.: Athenry. Won by a neck. Time 1.16 3-5. Hack Steeplechase.—Bustler 1, Kendall 2, Merry Singer 3. Scr. : Frizzier and Pourihoiho. Won by two lengths. Time 1.4 3-5. Steeplechase.—-Eerie 1, Puwhero 2, Landlord 3. Scr.: Nukumai. Won by a length. Time 6.7 4-5. Master Peter and Maliia lost their riders. Hack Hurdles.—Rnugatahi 1, Zircon 2, Slump 3. Won by two and n half lengths. Time 2.49 1-5. ■Century Hurdles.—Gaze 1, San Fora 2, Koaunu 3. Won by five lengths. Time 4.19 3-5. Connolly Handicap.—Nippy I, Glcngariff 2, Uralla 3. Won by a neck. Time 2.12 3-5. The Ashburton Racing Club’s autumn meeting- opened to-day. The attendance was poor. The tote took £6,110, compared with £9,948 on the corresponding day last year. Results:—

Cup.—Deucalion LTarleton 2, Goosestep 3. Won by two and a half lengths. Time 2.10 2-5. Laghmor Plate.—Cultivation 1, Moratorium 2, Rebuke 3. Won easily by five lengths. Time 1.2 1-5. Fairfield Handicap.—Clareina 1, Uleaborg 2, Brown Lady 3. Won by two lengths. Time 1.29 1-5. Selma- Trot.—-His Majesty 1, Haydock 2, Jingal 3. Won by a head. Time 3.37 2-5.
Longbcneh Hack.—Lytup 1, Coch-y-Bondu 2, Tam Glen 3. Won by two lengths. Time 1.15 3-5. Grove Farm Handicap.—Clontarf 1, Sprinkler 2, Para- 3. Won by two lengths. Time 1.14 2-5.
An inquiry was held on the Laghmor Plate, when crossing was alleged. Whit ford, Jennings, Eastwood, and Emerson were questioned, after which it was decided to take no action.
