Tho “Times ’’.Tangier correspondent says: “The latest communique confirms that the Franeo-Spnnish have advanced on practically nil fronts. Krini’s Tarquist headquarters are reported to be abandoned. SERIOUS SYRIAN REPORT. LONDON, May 19. The Jerusalem correspondent of tho “Daily News ” says tho stories of the French successes in Syria, where there are fifty thousand troops, do not accord with the facts. Several thousand French soldiers entered Sueida. which is now beleaguered by hordes of reliefs. The water is diminishing. The French hold a portion of Damascus, the remainder is still open to continuous Arab raids. There has been heavy losses on both sides. The Arabs declare they can resist for a year. Tho country is nnarchial. The Druses would welcome a British mandate, which is, however, impossible.
