In eonnexion with repairs to the ZigZag road at Ivumnra. the Minister for Public Works has advised Mr 'l'. E. V. Seth 1011. M.P.. that a free filial grant of £IOO will he made for the construction of a groyne in the Teromakau Hirer to cut off the water and arrest the forward movement of the slip, and £SO for repairs to> the road, future repairs to be effected by the Borough Council out of its own funds. If the conditions are acceptable to the Borough Council, the grant would he made available on receipt of satisfactory plans and specifications covering the works proposed.

After a term of office extending over a. period of ‘l2 years, the Grevmoutli High School Board of Governors held their last meeting yesterday for the purpose of passing a resolution authorising the ihanding of the late Board’s funds to the Greyniouth Technical High School Board. When formed in 1884. the funds amounted to £600; to-day, thanks to the wise management, the sum to he handed over to the Technical School authorities is no loss than £2,524 7s 3d. The story of a faithful collie dog romes from Teninka, where a man under the influence of liquor was found asleep beside a hedge on the main road on Friday night last. A couple of residents realising the severity of the weather decided to remove him to a warmer spot, hut the-sleeping man’s dog showed fight on its master’s behalf refusing to allow the strangers to approach. As a solution of the difficulty they decided to send for a constable, hut the dog was not impressed by the representative of the law, and showed as much antagonism to him as lie had to the civilians.
