Search parties were engaged all day yesterday in the river at Kokatahi, but their efforts to find any trace of the missing lad Cecil Smith. This morning the search was being continued down the river. The parents of the lad Miami Mrs Smith, of Shirley, came to Hokitika last evening by the express. All roads will lead to the Excelsior Ball in the 11.5. A. Hall this evening. A Matainui correspondent writes: There was a. large gathering of friends at the residence of Mr mid Mrs Archie Mcßride last Saturday evening to Welcome home the happy pair who were married in Christchurch some couple of weeks previously. Both were very popular residents of the district, and the gathering proved a very enjoyable and successful one. During an interval in the songs :iiul dancing the toast ol the newly wedded pair was honoured with enthusiasm, the best of good wishes being expressed for their future happiness and prosperity.
