Uncompleted developments in tho coal mine engine-drivers’ strike occurred when the miners employees of Sydney Collieries Limited, which had acceded to Hie claim of the enginedrivers refused to resume unless the maangement gave them the same increase as they had undertaken to concede to the engine drivers. This demand the owners refused. The miners at a later meeting decided to resume this morning, but whether they will remain at work is to be decided by a Federation meeting to-day. In addition the carpenters, bricklayers, painters, tile layers, and builders’ labourers are demanding a forty

hour week. They claim this basis on the ground that they were enjoying a forty-hour week when other unions were working forty-eight.
