A brick wall collapsed on the adjoining furniture shop of G. Dowling and Co and their stock was much damaged by falling debris and by water. Thomson and Llanfenr, music dealers, on the other side of Wensley’s suffered minor damage by smoke and water. At one stage it appeared that the Municipal Chambers would bo destroyed, and the borough archives were removed, while a crowd rescued the portraits of Mayors from the Council Chambers.
