THE BREATH OF SCANDAL.” TO-NIGHT. ‘
“ The Breath of Scandal,” the latest Master Picture, which opens at the Princess Theatre to-night is a picture you will like. Even thought it aseeuds into the realms of high society, its moral lesson is one which can, with advantage, he assimilated by all classes. Moreover, it shows that, even amongst the Upper Ten, there is a certain sense of chivalry, an attribute almost lost in these days of modern flappers, hectic jparties and shingled matrons. The mother of the heroine is too absorbed in her family affairs to note that her husband is being estranged from Ins wife. He has an “ affair ” with the divorced wife of a prominent business man. One night a message comes through to the heroine’s family, that the husband and father has me 1 with a serious accident. In reality he has been shot in the flat of the divorcee. The daughter, whose fiance is a modern society man, is loved by a young lawyer (hero). When the breath of scandal is wilted across the atmosphere of rigour society, it is the hero who prevents it from producing serious results, even though he has to combat the insidious work of the girl’s lover, who in many ways proves his despicahilitv. Eventually the matter is most satisfactorily hushed up, and the mother, who is persuaded to leave her various society meetings in favour of a return to home life, pays enough attention to her recovered husband to ensure his staying by bis own fireside, etc. This production is most artistically presented and contains an excellent cast, which includes Betty Blythe. Jack Mulhall. Phyllis Haver and other favourites. “The "Walk Out” a Snub Pollard two-reel comedy, and a Patlie Gazette will also be shown. Miss Williams’ orchestra will play several new selections.
