Mr E. A. Wells, returns thanks to the electors of the Central Riding for the very substantial support accorded him.
During last night a wnale about ;>o feet long and six or seven feet through was washed up on the beach nearly opposite Kaihinu station and was secured this morning by Mr .1. I inch. It is ,dso reported that a smaller whale about 30 feet long was washed up near 'Throe .Mile and secured by Mi Gutberlet.
The opening ceremony in connection with the new Convent of All Saints at Greymouth takes place on Sunday afternoon next and there is promised a very large attendance from all parts of the Const. His Lordship. Bishop Brodie, of Christchurch, will arrive on Saturday to perform the ceremony, while addresses will also he given on the occasion by leading citizens. The handsome building is now almost completed, the final touches being put on in'the course of the next week.
