The result of the poll for the Central Riding of the County Council, m progress to-day should be available about T.l.j p.m. to-night.
Reports from the north state there has been some further damage to the northern approach to Maltroy’s bridge over the Arahura river, but the actual damage is not yet known.
The Telegraph Office advised at 2.49 p.m. that the lines were down at Dill mans, J ackson’s and Otira and on the north line at Stillwater, with IKL .prospect of any line being workable before 3 p.m. The absence of cable and telegraphic news is therefore explained.
