RADIO AMATEUR. GISBORNE. May 11
Mr Ivan O’Meara, the well-known wireless operator, following on his previous Kueceses, has been communicating with the Radio Laboratory at iNinjinovgod, in Russia, and with Tomsk, in Russia. He also communicated with two German stations, and with others at Madeira and in Java.
THE EXHIBITION CATERING DUNEDIN, May II
An interesting return compiled hy Mr A. R. Nichol, the OfficiaL'Caterer, sho#s that 831,181 meals were served in the restaurants and tea rooms dining the course of the Exhibition. Of this total 760,100 were served to the public and 63,479 to school childicn. FIRE ALARMS. CHRISTCHURCH, May 12.
Of the fire districts of the Dominion, the district under the jurisdiction of the Christchurch Fire Board holds the unenviable distinction of recording the greatest number of_ _false alarms. At yestereve’s meeting it was decided to urge Government to increase- the penalty for malicious false alarms to a week’s gaol without the option.
