The drizzle lifted at three o’clock and Woodful and-Hendry resumed the innings half an hour later on a good wicket and an attendance of ten thousand. Peach and Fenley were the bowlers. After a succession of singles, mostly carpet drives off Fenley, Moodful obtained the century, which ban taken 195 minutes. When 114 be found the pavilion rails, , the first boundary hit of bis innings. lrcc balls later, in trying to turn one front Lockton, Woodful was taken easily at short leg. He bad batted 220 minutes. Gregory brought some life into toe game cutting Lockton and sending Fender to leg for boundaries off successive balls, notwithstanding the slo« outfield. ~ Gregory and Macartney took up the attack against Hobbs and Sandhain. The former opened with a single of: Gregory, Sandham following with, a couple to leg. Uergory was humping dangerously, frequently over the batsmen's heads. ■'Sandham survived two appeals for leg before. Macartney’s first four overs were maidens. Then Hobbs drove him on to the boundary. A quiet period followed Hobbs’s departure tile placing of the field keeping runs down. Macartney was especially difficult to play. The only score off him by Sandham was a four off n long hop. Most of tbe runs came from Richardson and Orininiett.
