BOY SCOUTS.

(Contributed.)

The Second Hokitika Troop meet next Tuesday evening at eight o’clock at the Scout rooms. The question of a future meeting place is still waiting solution and there are other reasons for asking for a complete attendance this month.

Last Sunday afternoon Jack and Lionel Lynn, also Clias and Win. Sanders, having passed their tests, were enrolled as Tenderpads in the Second Wolf C’ub Pack. Since the question of keeping the boys out on dark evenings has again been brought up this year, the Cu.binaster of the Second Pack will bo pleased if parents will note that ordinary Tuesday meetings finish at 5.0 p.m., and if even this hour is too late in winter for any of the younger hoys who live some distance away. there is a daylight meeting at ten on Satmdny mornings so that no one need get out of touch with the Pack this winter. Attendance at anv special evening meetings is entirely voluntary for the cubs. The Treasure Hunt last month was finally won by the Hawk patrol, after considerable adventure. This Friday evening, weather permitting the Hawks and Tvukus will be asked to go out on the trail of a .mysterious stranger and electric torches should be brought wherever possible. A now departure for the Second Troop in the form of a cycle hike camp is suggested for part of the coming school holidays. All scouts and cubs should note that May 21st. is Mothers’ Hay in New Zealand. Suggestions for its celebration will lie put before the boys next week. School holidays should make it •specially effective. A special colebralion of Empire Day oil the 21t1i.. of this month is also being arranged. This is in addition to the public observance on .Tune 3rd.
