During the past three years 1 have endeavoured to serve you faithlully and generally to promote the welfare of the district. I had the honour of being Chairman during one year of my expiring term, and T look back with a good deal of satisfaction to the fact that as a result of the administration it was possible to reduce the annual rate. In regard to district, work I have given my host attention, and the improved condition of the roads which are increasing in length with expanding settlement, testify to the sustained nature of the maintenance. I was an advocate for the road machinery, and the plant is no doubt responsible for the improved work giving better roads, a result which is very satisfactory to me.
