BODY IDENTIFIED. WANGANUI, May C. The body found in the river yesterday was identified as that of M. Copestake, a resident of Marton, Secretary of the Returned Soldiers Assn., and the Chamber of Commerce of that town; also the Marton representative of the “Wanganui Herald.” Deceased bad been missing about ten days. He was a returned soldier. BABY SUFFOCATED. AUCKLAND, May 5. The practice of mothers in taking their babies to bed with them was adversely commented upon by Magistrate Hunt at an inquest to-day concerning the death of a baby girl, found dead in a bed lieside its moth-, er. “It is a bad practice, and is practically condemned now,” the Coroner said. “It is a long time since we have had a case of its kind. Mothers should not take their babies to bed with them.” The mother stated that when sho went to sleep, the baby was resting on her arm. During the night.it slipped off.
