THIKVES ABANDON CAR. LONDON. March 16. Following an oxciting chase of two thieves in a motor-car who smashed the window of a jeweller's shop in Clerken-well-road, E.C., late on Thursday ni<dit, Scotland Yard detectives are 'trying to trace the owner of a blue touring air which the men abandoned. One"of the men jumped out of the ear and smashed the window of Messrs Gleeson’s shop with a hammer. He tried to snatch a tray of rings, but although be missed the tray he took some gold chains, worth about £IOO. A constable, hearing the smash, hailed a passing motor-car and gave chase, but after turning a corner the thieves jumped out. of the car and ran awpv. All trace of them was last. The car is believed to have been stolen from the King’s Cross district earlier ill |he clav.
