HARNETT’S CASE [Reuter Telegrams.] (Received this day at 11.0 a.in.) .LONDON, April 27. Justice Horridge in the cuso of Harnett, cabled on Alar eh 19th., after bearing the legal argument entered Into judgment with costs in favour of the defendant, whose counsel pleaded the Statute of Limitation. Justice Horridge said that the defendant was liable to face the consequences of his negligence then though ]in actual order for detention was made by the justices. His Lordship disagreed with the contention that though the jury considered Harnett to he sane, he should be viewed as a lunatic for the purposes of constituting the Statute of Limitations. His Lordship’s duty was to construe the statute, however regrettable the result-. RECORD BREAKING.
