LONDON CELEBRATIONS
LONDON, April 25
Practically every unit of the famous 29th Division was represented at the An/.ac Day celebrations. Lieut .-General Hunter 'Weston, who commasded the 29th at the landing at Cape Holies and Major-General Cayley, who went through the whole Galipoli campaign were present. The First Lancashire Regiment’s Band used silver drums mid instruments which formed part ol the regimental memorial. Among the wreaths on the cenotaph was one laid by Sir James Allen on behalf of New Zealand.
After tbe march past, Lieut.-General Hunter Weston and General lan Hamilton addressed the men.
MELBOURNE CELEB HAT lONS. MELBOURNE, April 20. Remarkable enthusiasm marked the celebrations of Anzac T)av. Returned soldiers participated and marched through the streets to the exhibition building where a commemoration service was held, Air Bruce being the principal speaker. A temporary cenotaph was erected oil the steps of the Federal Parliament-buildings and a great number of wreaths were placed at its base. The proceedings were marred by heavy rain. MESSAGE TO KINO. AUCKLAND, April 26. The Governor-General has sent the following reply to a message from the King:— Your Majesty’s gracious message has been communicated to the people of New Zealand who appreciate it most deeply, the association of Your Majesty and Queen in their observance of this day of sacred memories. They desire me to state their assurance that spirit of devotion to Your Majesty and Empire which was shown so clearly on that first Anzac Day, remains undiminished throughout this Dominion.” AT GISBORNE. GISBORNE. April 26. The Anzac Day memorial services were largely attended. Ex-service men have decided f" revive the Returned Soldiers Association. AT TAUMARUNT. V, TAUMARUNUI, April 26. Anzac Dav was observed fittingly yesterday, when a lengthy procession of Returned Soldiers, Nurses, South African Veterans end representative; of all local institutions, marched tr . the Memorial Cross, erected by the 'Returned Soldiers of the district, where appropriate addresses were do livered by the Rev. F. 'Wetlierhog am C. C. Marsack. AT STRATFORD. STRATFORD, April 26. There was splendid weather voste day for the Anzac Day ceremon; which included the unveiling by Ge. crnl Russell of a memorial to falk soldiers of the town and district m tl form of handsome entrance gates the town’s sportsgronnd.
