Advice was received in town on Saturday evening that Air Samuel Stewart, of (loldsborongh. who had been reported missing on Friday afternoon, had turned up safely at Air K. Steele’s residence outside Goldsborough, all well. Air Stewart had been in the htt.sh for thirty hours. He appeared little the worse for his experiences. It is presumed that a lapse of memory caused him to wander through the bush. A large party had been engaged all day in the search, and the news of his arrival safely was a great relief to all concerned. .

There were many expressions of sorrow and regret voiced on Saturday when it became known that Air Arthur A.W. Finch, who was injured in the accident oil .Messrs Alallroy and Go’s tramline on Friday morning, had passed away during the afternoon, as a result of the very severe injuries received. On Friday night a quantity of blood was transfused from one of his brothers, and ou Saturday ail operation to his leg was performed, but peritonitis set in as a result ol internal injuries received, and the patient .succumbed. The deceased wa.s a native of A rail lira district and 41 years of age. Tl» .was very popular among those who knew him and deep regret is voiced at his tragic end, with sincere sympathy for his relatives. His father died some twelve years ago and mother last November. He leaves three sisters (AO's Rawlings of Hokitika, Airs Winter of Hawera and Airs Shirley of Inglewood) and six brothers all well known residents of the Anduira district. The funeral is to take place on Wednesday morning. An inquest is taking place this afternoon.

A residence at Stillwater, the property of Air Alf Graham formerly of Hokitika, was destroyed by fire on Sundav morning about (i o’clock. The house was unoccupied at the time. Air Graham making arrangements to come over from Lake Coleridge to live again at Stillwater. Airs Graham was at Stillwater last week, but bad come to Hokitika for the week end.
Ohe of the, liest known West Coast railway officials, Air John William Hick, who for some time past had been laid aside with illness, passed away yesterday at the residence of his sister. Airs Jno. MeKnight, Cowper Street, Greyinotith. Tile deceased
who was 50 years of age—and a native of the AA’est- Coast, saw service at most of the stations on the AA’estland railway section, and was very popular with the travelling public, being a very courteous officer. He was stationed at different times at Hokitika. Stillwater and Otira, and latterly bad been stilt ionmaster for a considerable time at lteofton. His wife and other relatives will have the sincere sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.
