There are at least four in the Minor Counties team to play tho Australians in the opening match of the tour on Wednesday who would have given the Scletcion Committee little cause for consideration. Franklin, captain of Buckinghamshire (the county who three years out of four has been top of the Alinnr Counties championship). one- of the host amateur wicketkeepers in the country, who [Jays in nearly all the big AI.C.C. matches at Lord's. Mr B. 4. O. Ale.vcr. Hertfordshire. and secretary of the Cainliridge cricket eleven this year, a slow medium higlit-hander who can turn the hall from leg or to the oil' and varies his pace cleverly, is the third, and Iv.l wards <F.L the Buckinghamshire professional, considered bv many judges to lie the host left-banded howler in England, is the lourth. Edwards for the last few years lias been a. coach at Eton, and is top of the whole of i lie minor counties howling averages lor 192 A.
