The Hon. Sir Janies Parr leaves Wellington on Saturday for England to take up his position as High Commissioner for New'Zealand.
After serving 25 years as a missionary in China, and latterly as Director of Practical Training at the Union Theologian] College at Canton, the Rev. George McNeur. formerly of Dunedin, arrived at Auckland oil Wednesday by the Ulimaroa. Mr. McNeur who has been elected Moderator of the New Zealand Presbyterian Church, has now finished his missionary work.
The Westland schools (third section) will send the final contingent to the Dunedin Exhibition, leaving by the 8.-15 train to-morrow morning. In all 32 children will travel, two additional being specially provided for. The party will stop in Christchurch over Anzac Day. and roach Dunedin on Monday night. The party leave Dunedin on the return next Friday morning, and will reach here the following evening, ’the party should have the usual good time on the trip.

“The Field” has an appreciative reference to Sir James Allen, in regard to his coming retirement as High Commissioner, and it comments: “As High Commissioner Sir James Allen has taken an active interest in the schemes for atr,acting to New Zealand ■a due proportion of British emigrants, and his tenure of office has been marked by his outstanding characteristics of energy, integrity, and inflexibility of purpose. Some times the representatives of the Dominions stay on in this country after the expiry of their term of office, hut we understand that Sir James Allen proposes to return to New Zealand and is planning to leave in August, Tie will be greatly missed, and will lie followed into retirement by the good wishes of all who know him.”
Word was received at Greymouth last evening, that a man named John Kane, about 35 years of age, employed at the locality known as Irishman’s, as a liu.-hman for the Moana mill, was missing. lie lives in a lint with a mate, who noticed his absence from his hunk about 3 o’clock yesterday morning, though he was present the previous evening. The reason for his disappearance is unknown. It was reported that he had been seen yesterday morning on the railway line about ten o’clock, hut- nothing has since been heard of him. and there were naturally apprehensions as to his sudden disappearance. Search parties yesterday went through the hush in quest of Kane. Constable Rogers, of Brunner, joining them. One party worked its way to Rarojt, where it showed lip last night, hut none of - the searchers found any trace of the missing man. The search renewed to-day.
St. Stephen's Church, Reeftnn. was ihe scene of a. very pretty wedding on Wednesday afternoon, when Dorothy, eldest daughter oi Mr and Mrs A. T. Brooks, of Reeltnn. was married 1o Ernest,, youngest son of Mrs and the late Clement. I’ariilt-. of Greyinouth, and hrother of the .Mayor of Greymouth, The teremoiiy, which was fully choral, was performed by the Rev. J. W. Blovce. Miss M ,I’artitt, niece of the bridegroom, officiated at tin 1 organ. The church was prettily decorated by friends of the bride, a dainty wedding hell of pink (lowers being suspended over her. The bride, wlio entered the church on the arm of her father, looked charming in her frock of pale pink georgette and silver lace. The long straight bod it e was slightly trimmed with small silver heads, the skirt being Hared with insets of dainty silver lace, a. tiny spray of orange blossom was arranged at one side of the low waistline. Her pale pink veil was arranged under a circlet of silver leaves and she carried a botuitiful shower bouquet of pink and white roses and maidenhair- fern with streamers of tulle. Shoes and stockings of silver completed a dainty toilette. The bridesmaids were .Misses Clarice and Marjorie Brooks, sisters of life bride, who wore frocks of silver and blue georgette, the overdresses of blue embroideries in silver being arranged with straight bodices, and Hared skirts over silver marocnin. Their headdresses were coronets of silver lace and they carried Victorian posies of white and blue flowers. The duties of host mail were ably carried out ' • Mr. S.
