HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT,

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated April 17th from the High Commissioner of New Zealand, London: BUTTER.
The market is quiet. Official quotalions arc:
New Zealand.—Finest- salted, If 2s to 174 s per cwt (Is 6} per'lh) ; unfcalted, 174 s to 176 s per cwt (Is Gjd to Is Old per lb); other qualities, 152 sto 168 s per cwt (Is 4]d to Is"(kl per lit).
Australian.—Un.xalted, 170 s to 17ffi per cwt (Is Gjd to Is Gj(l per Th) ; other qualities (salted), 146 s to 166 s per cwt (Is 3jd to Is 53d i>er lb); other qualities (unsalted), 156 s to 166 s per c-wt (Is lid to Is 53d per lb).
Argentine.—Unsaited, 154 s to 160 s per cwt (Is lid to Is 5d per lb); cxveptionnl up to 161 s per cwt (Is sjd per lb): other qualities Ills to 152 s per cwt (Is 31d to Is lid per lb).
Danish.—l7Bs to 180 s per cwt (Is 7d to Is 7V<t per Hi).
CHEESE. The market is slow. Official (plota t i oils are :
English finest farmers.—Unchanged and scarce.
Canadian.—Finest coloured, 106 s to 110 s per cwt (11 id to ll jd pet' lb) ; white, 106 s to 110 s per cwt (11 id to 11 :Jd per Hi). New Zealand.—Coloured. 95s to 97s per cwt (10.',d to 10.) dper lb) ; white 95s to 90s per cwt (10Jd per lb). Australian.—Coloured (in accordance with size), 92s to 91s per cwt (9Jd to 10d per lb); white 92s to 93s per cwt (9Jd per lb). A shipment of New Zealand produce arrived this week per s.s. Middlesex. A ITLFS. The demand is only fair and the tendency easier. American are still plentiful and large quantities have yet to arrive. The following are prices for Port Denison and Port Hunter shipments:—Cox's orange Lis to 18s up to 20s per case; Jonathans. 14s to 18s per ease; Ribstonc Pippin, Its to 15s per ease; Dunn’s Favourite, 12s Oil to Its per ease; Will if Sharp, 8s in Ms per cn.se; Worcester Pearmain. 10s tu 1.3 s per ease: Adaioa's Pearmain, 12s per ease. Australian prices for Tasmanian ami Victorian apples: - Cleopatra. 13 s to Lis per ease ; .Jonathon. 11s to 13s per case; Dun's Favorite. 11s to 12s per case; others. 10s Gd to 12s. West Australian sorts Is per case more. HEMP. The Manila market is steadier. .) grade April-,) uue shipments again sold at £39. Si.-td are dull and have an easier tendency. No. 1 Tanganyika, and Kenya April-line shipments were offered at £ 12 10s to £l3. lint 110 business is reported. New Zealand is weak, and sellers quote high points April-June .shipments at 230 10s, fair 233 10s. Inti there are 110 buyers. Storks in London on March 31st. were 85 tons, against 107 tons at the same time last year. WOOL. The Bradford market is quiet hut steady. Present quotations are for tops:—lll’s warp (merino). Is Ojd per Hi; til's average, 3s lfljd per I!>; 56’s super half-bred, 2s 9d ; oil’s fine crossbred, 2s 2d; 40's prepared, Is 9d. TALLOW. The spot nfirket is quiet hut steady. Present quotations are: Mutton.—Fine, lls to 45s : fair to hood, -12 s to 43s Gd ; dark to dull 39s to 40s. Beef: Sweet aud-or mixed, 42s to 435; fair to good. 10s Gd to 12s; dark to dull. 37s fid to 395. Mixed: Lair to good. 40s (id to 41s 9d : dark to dull. 37s Gd to 395. Gut, etc.. 35s Gd to 38s Gd per cwt.
