The N.S.W. tennis championships were continued in fine, bright weather., In the semi-finals of tlic junior singles between Hopman and Wilson, the former won 6-1, 35-13. Hopman was playing well at the commencement, and improved as the game progressed. Wilson seemed olf colour in the first set. but made a much better showing in the second. Ho held tlie odd game from. 7-6 to 13-12 but could not press bis advantage homo. Hopman was playing brilliantly. ITis excellent service and fine volleying at the net enabled him to take the next three games and the set. One of tlie best games of the day was the conclusion of the semi-final of the men's singles championship between Andrews and AVillinrd t (runnerup at this year’s Australian championships). This game was 3-2 on Saturday, when rain compelled a postponement until to-day, Andrews took the first three games to-day winning the second set 6-2. Tn the next set, Andrews went to pieces. His driving was too strong. Williard anticipated cleverly, and captured the sot 6-1. In the final set, Andrews gave a brilliant exhibition. Ho had Williard hopelessly outclassed, and took it to love. This was Andrew’s best exhibition hitherto. He will meet Kalms in the final to-morrow. The scores were 6-3, 1-6, 0-0. Tn the second semi-final of the junior singles championship, Andrews had much the better of the first set, Crawford was playing below ihis usual form. He made some excellent strokes in the second set, but again Andrews showed superiority in all departments of tho game. He was inclined to put too much power behind his drives-. He took the game 6-0, 6-4. VANCOUVER, April 20. President Meldrum of the Canadian Lawn Tennis Association, has announced that tho first round of the Davis Cup tie. Canada v. Cuba, will bo played at Cuba. Tlie dates for play are not announced. They are expected to bo in July or early in August. So far, Willard Crocker and .Tack Wright are the only, two named for Canada’s team but two other arc likely to bo added.
