He won several honours in his younger days, and after serving as modelling master at the Glasgow Art Schools he was appointed Professor of Sculpture at the Royal j College of Art. His principal works as a sculptor have been the Machine Gun Corps Memorial'at Hyde Park Corner. Queen Victoria statue for Patiala. India, the Pitt statue for Washington. to celebrate 100 years of peace, and statues of Sir Titus Salt, at Saltairo. anti the Rev. C. H. •Spurgeon, at the Baptist Church House. From 1804 Mr Wood was an exhibitor at the Royal Aoademv. and was elected A.B A. in 1010 and R.A. in 1020. During the war he was in charge of the modelling of masks for the Facial Wounds Department, and his remarkable success in preparing new faces for badly wounded men gained hint a commission.
