Mr Lang, interviewed, said be hoped to see the. time when the whole of the State Parliaments find the office of State Governor would he abolished. Ho sail! the abolition of tho State Legislatures coifid not be. achieved piecemeal. but a move would have to he miule conjointly by all States. Mr Lang said that he was entirely in favour of the retention of the office of Governor-General, but thinks the time has come when another Convention should lie held to define the powers of the Commonwealth Parliament as a Rulxititute for the State Parliaments. Mr Lang’s idea is to give extended powers to local Government authorities and to create such bodies as Provisional Councils.
