The County Elections are now casting their shadow before. They will be held on Wednesday, May 12. The representation of the Westland County Council will be. readjusted, at the diming polls. Hitherto the Northern Biding has had three members, in future it is to have two .members. In the Southern Riding there will he again of one member, and for the future there will he four representatives in the south. It: is understood Messrs Ward and Murdoch will again be candidates for the Northern Hiding, hut in the case of Mr Duff, at the request of several ratepayers he proposes to offer his services to the electors of the Southern Riding. There is not much sign of movement in the Central Biding. but Mr L. IT. Morel (a former councillor) lias been mentioned as a probable candidate. Mr Duff’s appearance in the Southern Biding should not he unwelcomed, lie has been associated with the County Council now for over twenty years, and is familiar with the south territory, which as Chairman he has traversed oti different occasions as far south as Jack-son’s Bay. As an experienced councillor with good local knowledge Ills candidature should ho well received.
