COST OF PRODUCTION.
HOARD OF AGRICULTURE SEEKS INFORMATION. WELLINGTON. April 14. In order Unit the position of the producer may be dearly defined and belter understood, efforts are being made by the president of the Board of Agriculture to secure accurate information as to the cost, of production of wool, hutter and cheese and other primary products in New Zealand. Tn placing a memorandum on the subject before the board, the president intimated that it was desired that data should be available to enable producers to meet unwarranted assertions as to profits made by those engaged in various primary industries. Air A. IT. Coehayne. Director of the Fields Division indicated that his branch already was working along the lines indicated. The hoard submitted certain suggesgoslions and approved of the lines upon which the department’s investigations were being conducted. The board gave consideration to representations received by the Department of Agriculture urging modification of regulations at present in operation relating to the introduction, of stock and agricultural produce from countries in which foot and mouth disease exists. It was agreed that in view of the serious nature of the disease and the great loss which would arise should it. find its way to the Dominion, the time had not arrived for withdrawing the present restrictions, but that consideration should now he given to those dealing with the importation of seeds from the United Stales of America.
