LADIES’ GOLF CLUB
The Annual General Meeting of lady members of the Hokitika Golf Club was held in the County Council rooms on Thursday, Bth April, at 7 p.m., fourteen members being present and Afrs Wilson (ladies’ eaptiain) in the chair.
The minutes of the previous mectiim* were read and confiremd. ANNUAL KKPOBT.
Ladies.—Your Committtoc beg to submit the following report ior the season 192,5 which was in every way a most successful one. The Balance Sheet discloses a very satisfaeory financial state and our thanks are. due to all the lady members who by providing weekly afternoon teas contributtd so substantially to this result.
During the year the Club House has been enlarged and painted and the ladies were glad to be able to contribute towards this improvement, also to buy some furniture for their ladies’ room and wish to thank Al.iss Aloore olid Alls Alacfarlane for curtains and Airs Stnvclev for linen towards the
same. The West Coast Chainpionslirp .Meeting for 1925 was held on the Maliinapua Links and we are gratified that | the title of Lady Champion for the AVest Coast was retained by a local player. Miss Aloore. The meeting was in every way a most successful one, and visitors were loud in their praises ( of all the arrangements, including the . dainty luncheon and teas provided daily by tlie Church of England ladies. The meeting concluded with a Golf Ball which a capable ladies’ committee, ! with Airs Cagney as head made an outstanding success and where the various trophies won during the meeting were presented by the Club Captain, Air J. C. Alacfarlane. During the year a Gift Afternoon was held atul a one club match played for a ball given by Airs Wilson. This was won by Airs Garnet Perry. At the conclusion of the match the gifts were opened by the ladies’ captain, Airs AYilson, and proved to be many useful adjuncts to our Club House. The afternoon was both pleasureable and profitable and many wishes.were expressed that it might he repeated. The prize list appended herewith shows lhe winners of the various events. Unfortunately there was no senior championship event, players not being sufficiently interested to enter for same and your committee fool some steps must he taken to obviate such a position arising again. Our thanks are due to the various donors of trophies:—Alesdamos AVilson, Brodie, Tomlinson and Afiss Aloore. also a most generous anonymous friend. Owing to circumstances the match set down for Airs Brodie’s trophy for junior players had to he abandoned hut will appear early in this year’s list. AYe also wish to thank the press for their unfailing courtesy in publishing our reports apd golf matches. AVe are sorry that Al.rs Brodie will he absent this year from our club where she will he much missed, both as a. player and worker. Before her departure the club ladies tendered her a fa rowel function at the golf links where hearty wishes were expressed for her future success. While regretting the loss of some old members your committee hope to welcome many new ones and that tho season now opening may he as successful as the last.
