EVERYEODYS PICTURES. “ FOLLY OF VANITY.” TO-NIGHT. In “ Folly of Vanity/’ a beautiful blending of modem luxury and fantastic. imagery, from Fox Film Corporation which will be at the Princess Theatre to-night, vanity is brought to justice in a startling manner, and stunning Hetty Blythe of “ Queen ol •Sheba” fame, and the lovely .Billie Dove appear together and aid in the unfolding of a story of splendid strength and wholesome morals.
In the banquet hall of a middleaged home-wrecker ” of enormous wealth, on the sumptuous yacht of a social queen of much worldly sophistication, and in the Aladdin-like splendor of Neptune’s realm, the sequences of Folly of Vanity ” have their order and each surpasses the preceding one in hoaiitv.
There is pure enchantment in the conception and pieturisation of the domain of Neptune. Grottoes of opalescent shells, myriads of lovely mermaids. spirits of the foam and ininions of the four winds make amazingly lovely pictures and the performances of the divers, swimmers and dancers bring sighs of admiration.
Betty Blyldio startled the moving picture patrons of the world when she reincarnated the Queen of Sheba, and put her living prototype noon the soi'oon. Fver since that dazzling presentment there has been an insistent demand that she conic to the foro again in some spectacularly attractive manner. It was for Fox Film Corporation to again bring her back and in ” Folly of Vanity ’’ she Hashes forth its a sort of •• 1925 Queen of Sheba,” thinly disguised as " .Mrs Zelloh Howard.” a soeial queen. And Billie Dove who appears as
’• Alice Farnsworth ” in the modern sequence, and as The .Mortal in the fantasy carries ail appeal that goes direct to the heart for she possesses the charm, of youth and unusual I leant y. Jack Mulhall reveals a fine vein of humor in characterizing “ Farmvorth ” the young bridegroom, and John Sainpolis as his rich client “ Ridgeway ’’ is a, curtly satyr who learns, as the blase Mrs Howard observes, that easting pearls before brides doesn’t always prove wisdom.
A comedy and Oregon Trail will complete tile bill.
