AUTUMN .MEETING. i Thu Westland Hating Club was favoured with a tine warm day yesterday for their one day autumn meeting. The course and appointments wore m capital order, but the attendance was only fair, and the holds wore not as largo as could bo desired. Speculation also was not very brisk as a result, the sum of £Olll being passed through the totalisator for the afternoon, as against £O-0-1 lor the same day hist year, a small increase of £l5O. Iho racing was interesting in spile of the small fields. The new starter, Mr Hatch, was not troubled a great deal, in only one instance was there any delay when Deep Drive played up at the start for the President’s Handicap, in the course of his antics bringing bis jockey over hjs head to the ground. The .Stipendiary Steward made a couple of enquiries into complaints by jockeys, but otherwise the meeting passed oh with ils usual smoothness. The .Municipal Baud was present and played a number ol pleasing selections during the afternoon. 'lne results were as follows:: — TUI Al, HANDICAP of £7O, six lurlongs. The only starters. John Dix led the field past the stand with Steel Bar next. At the back Prime Femur, came up and took the lead. From a, (ine start the field moved well together, Plcaborg then taking the lead entering the cutting and was not beaded again winning by one length, a close finish for second place seeing The Reaver get up to beat Big Push by a bead.
