Hint's, aged 52, of Uneliunga, was knocked down by a motor car at a. street corner on lhursday evening and received severe injuries to her head and left arm. She died in the hospital shortly after admittance. The death occurred at the hospital on Thursday of Joseph .Morrison Carsic who was chief engineer of the Chelsea Sugar .Refinery, as the result of an injury on March Kith when he was thrown from a gig through the horse tailing, when he sustained deep cuts on the left elbow and knee. A FATAL FALL. AUCKLAND. April -I. A fatal accident occurred tit the Wnitematn Hotel this morning, when a maid, named Mary Shannon. aged about 14 years, fell from a window ul the hotel. She was dead when picked tip. The deceased was married, with a grown-up family, and was engaged as housemaid al the hotel. CHILD FATALLY SCALDED. TE KI TH, April I. Three children were sitting in front of a log lire, on which a kettle had been plated. The log rolled, and the contents ol the boiling kettle were precipitated over the child, badly scalding Iter from the waist downward. Owing to the stale of the roads, the parents had to wait at Kepalci with the injured child from 7 to If) p.m.. to catch a train, no motor ear being able to get through to To Kniti.
