(he Rev. J. F. Jack who has been in charge of the-Methodist Church here for the past five years left this morning for Greendale, Canterbury, his new charge, and was accompanied by Airs Jack and daughter. At the .Methodist Church last evening the departing Minister and his wife were (arewelled by the congregation, r I here was a large attendance, the .Mayor (.Mr. Perry) presiding. A musical programme was rendered and supper was handed round. In the course of complimentary speeches by the -Mayor. Al.r. Duff, and Aliss Lvim, a presentation was made from the congregation of a well filled purse, and the general appreciation of the good work of Air. Jack was expressed, with regret at his departure. A presentation from the members of the Humphreys congregation was also made.

The members of the Hokitika Schoel Committee, per A[essrs Conning, redder, Swcney, Haseler and Goodfellow also made a presentation in appreciation of the Rev. Jack’s work on tho Com mittec.

The Rev. Jack replied in feeling terms regretting tho necessity of his severing tho exceedingly pleasant relations that have existed between his congregation and himself. He also thanked the School Committee for their kind recognition of what had been a labour of love.
