Colonel C. Knott, the new Chief Secretary for tlie Salvation Army in New Zealand, arrived at Auckland by the Aorniigi, accompanied by Mrs Knott. The colonel was formerly Chid Secretary for the Army’s Western Canadian district. He has had a distinguished career and has been, in many parts of the world. For eleven years prior to going to Canada he was in Denmark. In 1.905 lie pioneered the Army’s work to Jerusalem and Egypt, and some years ago was in charge on the island of Ceylon. He was chaplain to the British expeditionary forces during the war, and in recognition of these services was made Imnnrary chaplain to his Majesty’s tones. Ibis evening the new secretary will leave Auckland for his headquarters in Wellington. As Chief Secretary for the Dominion, Colonel Knott is the highest Salvation Army officer iii the land next to Commissioner Iloggard.
