LOCAL WEATHER BUREAU.

The local observer for the Dominion Meteorological Department reports the following rain and sunshine records for the week ending, Sunday March

\ IC\V FORTH ROAD BRIDGE. LONDON, Jan. 20. Ji is expected that the preliminary work of survey in connection with the Forth Road Bridge at South Oueensforry will soon be undertaken. The Government is paying 75 per cent towards the cost of the survey, and the balance will be made up by a contribution of £I,OOO from the Edinburgh. Town Council and £SOO Irom Dunfermline Town Council. At a meeting ot the Lord Provost s Committee in Edinburgh yesterday it was stated that when confirmation by the respective councils of these grants was received by the Ministry of transport the work would be undertaken. It was also announced that a letter had been received from Sir Henry Maybury, Director-General of Roads, that the headquarters of the survey which would be undertaken in connection with tlio survey for the new Tay Bridge would be at Rosytli. The cost is expected to l>e about £IO,OOO.
