MR SEDDON AT THE EXHIBITION
At the Dunedin Exhibition last week, at a function given by the Exhibiion authorities to a visiting Cabinet Alinister, the Chairman of the gathering (Air P. Barr) in extending a greeting to the Hon. lt. E. Bollard, concluded by expresing the pleasure all felt in having Air T. E-. Y. Seddon, member for Westland, present that afternoon. It was appropriate that on Anniversary Day tlie name of Seddon should he associated so closely, recollecting how much the two provinces of Otago and Westland had in common in the days of the gold discoveries, and also the part that, had been played by the Seddon family in New Zealand liistorv. Air Seddon, who was asked to speak, was warmly greeted, lie thanked AD Barr for his references to himself and Ids familv, and echoed Ids remarks on the early associations of then- respective provinces. He regretted that the West Coast, had been unable to arrange direct representation at the Exhibition. but felt that the numbers oi West Coasters who bad visited Logan Park compensated for that omission m large measure. He thanked the Government and the directors tor the way in which both had looked alter the children of Die WesC Coast who had visited the Exhibition. Had the Most Coast been represented, its exhibits would have included something ot the gold production and afforestation- but he felt that afforestation could not hart been better represented than it was ni the New Zealand Government la.ition.
