LATE LOCALS.
News was received to-day hv cable of the death of Air Cyril Nortncroft at Johannesburg, South'Africa. The deceased was tin* son ol Air and Airs I.eo Northcvoft, formerly of Hokitika, and was a native of this town. His widowed mother resides at Alafhinui, wheie also the youngest brother of deceased, George, also resides. Another brother resides at Auckland, and a brother and two sisters, married, in South Africa. Tiio deceased was a married man. He has l>een ailing for some little time. He left Hokitika some, years ago when quite a young man, and returned subsequently cm a short visit with his wife whom ho married in South Africa. Along with his parents the family was well-known and much respected here, and every sympathy "ill be felt for the relatives in their very sad bereavement.
