EVERYBODYS PICTURES. " AIF.RTGX OK THE MOVIES” TO-NIGHT. The Princess Theatre will present for Hie first time to-night the Paramount success, "Merton of the Movies.” The stars are Glenn Hunter and Viola Dana, while James Cruze, who made such popular pictures ns "The Covered Wagon ” 'dud “ The Enemy Sex,” is the directoi. It is the story of a. hoy who was ambitious, and tried to get into the movies, and tolls of the hardships and rebuffs that lie experienced. Mow do you get- into movies? and how are the movies made? These are the questions that you will find answered in Paramount's "Merton of tile Movies.” This picture shows you what happens when some one is of the opinion that they can net, and go to Hollywood, but they do not meet with even tlie success of Merton. This Paramount picture will be screened at the Princess Theatre to-night, “ Merton of the Movies ” lias been a. great .success on the American stage, and a great deal of its success has been due to the sincere acting of the star, Glenn Hunter. Now tin’s star has lelt the stage, and is playing the same role in the motion picture production. \ iola Dana has one of the greatest comedy parts of her career in the new Paramount picture, " Merton of the Movies.” She has the part of Klips, a. slapstick comedy actress in one of the Hollywood studios, where Merton Gill comes to get a job. A good supporting series will also be shown. On Tuesday evening at the Princess Theatre Professor D’Alniaiue. hypnotist and magician will appear for one night only. The .Marl boro ug.li "Express” cementing on a. recent performance states: “A most- entertaining show replete with clean humour, was presented at His Majesty’s Theatre last niglu, when Professor D’Almaine, hypnotist and magician appeared in conjunction with vaudeville. Such was the interest that had been aroused by the Professor’s appearance that the theatre was packed practically in every department, and the big audience accorded the. performance a 1 warmly enthusiastic reception. In his ! v 1 rformaace of conjuring and hypnotism. Professor D’Almainc demonstrated exceptional talent, and an especially happy personally. His card manipulations, fire-eating net. and well-selected series of conjuring tricks gained fully deserved applause, whilst his powers as a hypnotist won early recognition. He prefaced his experiments in auto-suggestion and catalepsy with a lecturette on the subject in which lie lucidly explained the conditions he was aliout to produce in his subjects. In all cases, the experiments were successful and compelled attention, whilst the final scene was screamingly funny.” Other artists on the. programme are Afiss Gladys D’A’nsainc, Dal and George, l’e-cy Cnir and the comedy sketch team.
