The attention of persons qualified to have their names placed on the Parliamentary Electoral Rolls is drawn to a public notice, appearing in to-day’s issue of this papqy. Now that the law requires persons to register immediately they become qualified every suoli person would be well advised to sen that his or her name is put- on the roll. It will be observed that persons whose names are alnoady on the roll or who have become registered since the rolls closed for printing at the general •election need not apply for registration, hut these persons, if they change their address, must notify the new address to the Registrar.
The Buller County Council, at its meeting on Wednesday, passed a resolution asking the Government to transfer the unexpended portion of the Buller Gorge railway vote to the construction of the coastal road, between Westport and Greymouth. it was urged that no harm would lie done to the Gorge railway project as the money on the Estimates could not be expended within the financial year. Criticising the Council's decision, the 'Westport “News’’ says that as there were only six members present, and the resolution was carried by four votes to two, the majority did not represent a. majority of the full Council.

The death of -Mrs Marshall, wile of .Mr William Marshall, of Puminga, occurred last night at 10.30 o’clock at the Grey River Hospital. The deceased. who was 19 years of age. was a daughter ot the late Air and Ahs O'Grady, of Alarsden, of which place she was a native. She leaves a lamilv of two sons and two daughters.
News of the death of their father was yesterday received by Air Alichaei Deere and Aliss Marry Deere, ol Grcynmutli. The deceased. Air Patrick Deere, of Bear’s Cross. County Tipperary. Ireland, was 75 years ot ago. and was the brother of Mrs O’Brien, TuraiiDiha Street, Greymoutli, while .Messrs John, Patrick, and Terrence Deere, of Greymoutli are nephews,.
A- a. result of being savagely attacked by a sow ll child aged five years, the sail of W. Jones, a shim-milker at Wangehu. is at present in the AA anganui Hospital. The child picked u a little pig in a litter to fondle it, and was immediately savagely at tacked by the sow. Before his rescue could lie effected, the child was severely bitten in various parts of the body. It was at first feared that his injuries were of a very serious nature, but he is now making u good recovery.
AA’itli Faster approaching, the race meeting of the AA'estland Hating Club on the 7tli proxy is now engaging attention. Entries for all events close next Tuesday night. The Club is making tbo usual complete arrangements for the meeting, including special train arrangements* from all parts of the AVestInntl system on the day of the meeting.
