THE GAS STANDARD
NEW 'REGULATIONS. WELLINGTON, -March 26. Power to compel gas companies to sell gas by the standard heating value, instead of by volume, as at present, is taken by the Government in the nnwnding regulations just gazetted. Under these regulations the Minister of Industries and Commerce may from time to time, by order in writing, require any gas company to declare the calorific value of the gas which it intends to supply, provided that any company may alter the declared calorific value of its gas hy giving the Minister three months’ notice in writing of its intention to make such an al- J| teration. The cost of administering the regulations is to bo met by requiring every gas company to pay a levy of I2s6d for f each one million cubic feet of gas sold.
