WHO WAS THE MAN ?
A STRANGE DIVORCE cask. WELLINGTON. .March 20. Stian.no circumstances surrounded a divorce action which was taken, before the Chiel Justice in the Supreme Court yesterday. Petitioner was William James Owens, wlio sought divorce from Elizabeth Ann Owens. Petitioner said their marriage took place in li)l)7, and they lived more or less happily till December. 11)24. when they parted company. “Why did she leavep” His Honour asked. “She was coin”; out at- night and the children were neglected, and I mentioned this to her.” replied Owens. “She said that if I was not satisfied she would go. She went.” Subsequently, he met her in Wellington and asked her to comoi back to the children. She said she could not. and. after a lot. of argument, said the reason was that she had committed adultery. She would not say who the man was. lint she named the house where it occurred. A woman resident of Mitcheltown gave evidence that in February of last year she gave a party at which Mrs Owens and a man friend were present. These, two missed the lasi car. and 10turned to her house for accommodation. She pul them in separate rooms, but when she took the tea up next morning found them together. The witness did not know the name of the man. Had vimi been introdiK ed P — Yes. but 1 have forgotten the name. A decree nisi was granted. 'I lie father has the right to the children.
