At the athletic meeting at which Rose appeared the attendance was -HKIO and every time he passed the stand he was cheered, lustily. Conceding a long handicap lie had to run iiis race virtually impact'd. Otherwise lie would certainly have broken the record. Bose did not appear in the mile race. DCXKDIX. .March 22. Tiie appeal for funds to finance Bose's tour abroad met with a satisfactory response at tiie championship meeting last week, and about £SO was subscribed and this money will bl- sent on to the Council at Wellington. The local centre is ocmmuuicating with various sports bodies in Otago, appealing for assistance for the fund by way of donations.
